| I wasn't going down the HyTime path of considering these as axes,

| idea of timelines, which are of course single dimension axes. So
| maybe there's a simpler solution than HyTime that still has

Personally I think that's the way to go, even if you use HyTime.
HyTime lets you express the values, but you still need a language of
operators to be able to work with them. Your combinations of typed
values and operators makes perfect sense to me here.
