| Or indeed if the term is just in the text for marketing purposes and
| I don't have to obsess about it.
It's there only because it was thought to be useful. It occurs only in
two places: the heading of section 2, and in the first sentence within
that section. If it turns out to cause more confusion than
enlightenment we should perhaps consider replacing it by the term
"formalism".
| In the former case, I guess it's not an issue, since it would be
| subsumed under the larger task of writing the glossary for the SAM.
It's not a formal term at the moment, so it is not going to show up in
the glossary. (I intend to generate the glossary automatically, since
I think definitions out of context are not very reader-friendly.) I
don't think it should be a formal term, either.
| In the latter case, it isn't an issue because "data model" just
| becomes a phrase that achieves a certain comfort level for an
| audience (as Sowa puts it), rather than a term -- not that there's
| anything wrong with that.
The term "data model" is not a formal SAM term, either. It occurs in
two places, to explain informally what the SAM defines, and that's
really all it's used for.
